How to choose and maintain your sofa fabric

How do I maintain my sofa?
Vacuum your sofa weekly with an upholstery attachment and regularly plump up loose back cushions – the best way to do this is by shaking out the filling from the inside. Unzip the cushion and massage the filling loose so that air gets in and the cushion regains its original shape. Worried about stains? Prevention is always better than cure! Read all about sofa maintenance and our Protexx stain service, which protects your sofa from dirt and stains, here.
How do I keep my sofa from sinking?
During the first two months, it's important to sit on your sofa evenly and use all its elements. The foam still needs to form, and it will lose some of its volume in the first 3 months. If you sit on it evenly, this will happen uniformly across all parts, helping your sofa stay beautiful for longer.
How do I prevent wrinkles on my sofa?
All fabrics and types of leather "come to life" during use, which can lead to creases in the material. Creasing in fabric sofas is a very normal phenomenon and cannot be prevented. Ideally, you want a sofa to remain taut and smooth, but it is a utility item that will show signs of use. Usually, you can smooth out creases well with your hand, and the sofa will look neat again. Some fabrics crease a bit more than others; we are, of course, happy to advise you on this.
My bank is pilling, what now?
Pilling (small balls on the fabric) is completely normal for upholstery fabrics and is caused by friction, for example from clothing or use. It does not indicate the quality of the fabric. Fortunately, it is easy to fix: with a fabric shaver or de-piller, your sofa will look like new again.
What is Protexx and how does it work?
Protexx is a protective spray that creates an invisible layer against stains and dirt. This keeps your sofa looking beautiful for longer. You can also purchase the Protexx stain service for three years. This service includes protective products, a stain remover for minor soiling, and physical assistance with removing heavy stains. Learn more about this service here.
Can I wash the covers of my sofa?
Although the X2, X3, and X5 models come with removable covers for the seat and/or back cushions, we strongly advise against washing them yourself. Even light soiling can lead to shrinkage, discoloration, or damage to the fabric at home. Therefore, always have stains and soiling treated professionally.
How do I choose the right fabric for my sofa?
It's best to choose a sofa fabric based on your lifestyle and taste. Do you have children or pets? Then choose a durable, easy-to-clean fabric like velvet or velour – soft, luxurious, and durable. Prefer a more rugged look? Go for coarsely woven or heathered fabrics, and extra practical: they camouflage stains better and add character. Linen looks light and natural, but is more susceptible to stains. Polyester – our choice – is strong, practical, and comfortable. No fabric is indestructible, but with the right choice, your sofa will fit perfectly into your life.
Which sofa fabric is the most pet-friendly?
Velvet/velour fabrics are popular if you have pets: they feel soft, have a high Martindale value (abrasion resistance), and are easy to clean thanks to their smooth surface. However, no fabric is completely vandal-proof—and damage from pets is not covered by our warranty.
What is the difference between natural and synthetic fabrics?
Natural fabrics like cotton and linen are breathable and have an elegant, casual look, but are more susceptible to stains. Synthetic fabrics, such as the polyester used in the 4x6 sofa, are more colorfast and stain-resistant – ideal for heavy use. They are also stronger and therefore more durable, as they last longer.
