A cushioned sofa is, of course, the ultimate comfort spot in your home. And with a nice combination of loose cushions, and perhaps a soft throw on your sofa, you can quickly give your living room a makeover. A good cushion can also make a big difference in the seating comfort of your sofa. ![]()
At 4x6 sofa, we have six modular sofas, each with a different seat. Each sofa model basically has a comfortable backrest. Depending on how you want to sit, you can adjust the seating comfort by using loose back cushions, lumbar cushions, and a loose armrest. A handy guideline for the number of cushions is: the number of seats + one. But if you choose smaller cushions (<40 cm), you can, of course, choose more. It's also helpful to think in layers. For example: corner sofa X3 with 4 seats:
- Layer 1 would then consist of one or two large back cushions in the same color as the sofa for a neutral base. (Possibly in a different texture.)
- Layer 2 will then consist of two or three smaller cushions. It's nice to choose a contrasting color and/or shape here. For example, a rectangular cushion size S in a contrasting color and a roll or block as an extra armrest. When choosing the filling for these cushions, also consider the colors, shapes, and materials you use in your living room and how you can enhance them with cushions.

The X6 model is a lounge sofa with a relatively low and deep seat. This sofa is especially suitable for lounging with friends and relaxing a bit more. You can then opt for some extra loose cushions if you like. But a beautiful, sleek lounge sofa with no cushions or just one cushion is also an option. The sofa will still be wonderfully comfortable and loungey.
If you want to sit upright in addition to lounging, we recommend an extra loose back cushion, such as a size M cushion. This is a wide cushion that's the same height as the backrest. Choosing the same fabric as your sofa will maintain a clean look. And if you enjoy playing with color or texture, that's certainly possible too. Consider a corduroy back cushion for a bouclé sofa, or a mix of teddy and ribbed cushions for a corner sofa in beige fabric. With our 24 available colors for sofas and cushions, the possibilities are endless, and the price remains the same, no matter which color you choose.
We now also have a narrower version of the wide back cushion; size X. This version aligns exactly with the armrest of the modular sofa X6, so you can also use the armrest as a comfortable backrest.
If you're looking for a modular sofa with only one armrest (or perhaps no armrest at all), a separate armrest cushion is a great solution. For the 4x6 sofa, we offer both a bolster cushion, a separate armrest, and a block cushion. It's all a matter of preference; the comfort is the same.

The seat of the modular sofa X3 is higher than the lounge sofa X6, which allows you to sit more upright on this sofa. The backrest of model X3 has the same comfort as model X6, but most people do choose an extra back cushion. The nice thing is that you can really play with the different sizes of back cushions with this sofa. There are 2 widths for the back cushions: Back cushion size L covers the full width of the backrest and size H is a lot narrower and leaves space on both sides in relation to the backrest, making it a bit airier and more playful. With a straight sofa you could, for example, choose:
- Size L everywhere, so that the back cushions fit neatly together.
- Size H everywhere, so that a part of the backrest is visible each time, giving the sofa a somewhat airier appearance.
- Both sizes of cushions and perhaps also use a piece with no cushion or a different cushion so that the image becomes players.
Here too, the narrower back cushion (size H for model X3) is suitable for the armrest. You can therefore use the armrest very comfortably as a backrest. A nice feature is that you can also 'give direction' to the modular sofa in this way by creating seats at right angles to each other. This also creates a very surprising effect.

Our spacious X2 sofa is the only one in our range that comes with generous back cushions, which are wonderfully comfortable and allow you to sink into them. Looking for a little more support and a straighter seat? Then you can easily add a third layer of cushions for extra comfort and support; the M cushion is the perfect match!

The X1 and X4 models are designed so that their straight seats don't require additional back cushions for support. This not only creates a sleek and comfortable seat but also lends a calm, minimalist look. Want to add a little extra ambiance? Style the sofa with decorative cushions in different colors, textures, or patterns for a personal touch.
The X5 model is ideal for a corner sofa in a small living room. The seating comfort of this sofa is perfect for many people. For extra support, you don't actually need a cushion. However, it's still nice to add a pop of color to the sofa, for example, with a group of three square decorative cushions.

4x6 sofa cushions are coordinated with the sofa and can be made in either the same fabric or a contrasting fabric. We have some cushions in stock, but most are produced individually, at the same time as the sofa. This ensures the fabrics are perfectly coordinated in color and direction.
maintenance of (back) cushions
Because you naturally use your back cushions frequently, they can become misshapen. The loose cushions on a 4x6 sofa are filled with polyester flocking, which prevents the filling from sinking to the bottom like a down cushion. However, to keep the cushions in optimal shape, it's best to properly care for them from the very beginning. This means regularly unzipping the cushion cover and fluffing the filling with your fingers, taking care not to damage the inner cover. Carefully close the cushion cover again, and the cushions will remain plump and upright. If the cushion sags again, repeat the process.
Careful maintenance truly works wonders for your sofa and cushions. But if you use your back cushions intensively and the filling seems to be getting thin after a year or two, we can always make new cushion filling for you, so your loose back cushions will last for years to come.
All loose cushions on the 4x6 sofa have a removable cushion cover so you can easily clean the cover on a gentle cycle.
